Safety Scanner: Microsoft antivirus that runs without installation

That MS has a free antivirus and many people already know. A few days ago she launched a verification tool portable  malware that runs without installing, serving to complement other tools in some cases.

The traditional MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) is effective in several tests proved responsible for what is proposed. After a time in beta , was released in September 2009 and had the second version published by the end of last year. In more severe cases where other security programs have failed , the MSE remained standing. Yet, it was recently certified by AV Test .

Particularly never used antivirus "active" (just do full scans from time to time), but for lay users or feel insecure, ends up being something essential - all the time pop up on sites and e-mail messages with malicious links, and the final everyone knows the story.

MSE is good for being the very first manufacturer of the system, so it is well integrated into Windows and light, especially when compared to third-party programs - well, IE is the system manufacturer and is not or was not, say, " good "or" light "... : P

Last week she released the Safety Scanner 1.0, some say it was replacing the Windows Live OneCare, now discontinued. He is unlike most antivirus: it's portable,  runs without installing. Apparently it's based on the already widely reported Removal Tool Malicious Software. It would be a more advanced malware checker, with signatures of several types of common viruses.

Although not replace an antivirus with realtime protection (as the MSE or any other known) and update almost daily, it can be good to use once in a while or on PCs outside before doing something. Since it is not installable, you must get a recent version to do the scans. So it only works up to 10 days after download - after that you must download it again.

The archive currently has almost 70 MB. For those who have broadband it is almost nothing, but of course it is annoying for slow connections. Although the complete scan would take anyway ...

Unlike the MSE, this apparently does not require Genuine Windows validation.

The scan can be quick, general or personalized. The general may take several hours depending on configurations and number of files.

The Safety Scanner has an interesting proposal, basically replacing some inspectors "online" without leaving your computer slower, since it is not running all the time saved not (or should not save) local files. After using just delete the downloaded executable.
