Maintenance of notebooks

By

Notebooks are becoming an item increasingly popular, often replacing the desktop. Nevertheless, one of the main problems with respect to notebook PCs continues to be maintained. Previously, there was the myth that, although more expensive, the notebooks were built with quality components and, therefore, rarely gave problems. This may have been true in the past, but nowadays, with models becoming cheaper and manufacturers working with banks increasingly close, notebooks have so many hardware problems as desktops, or maybe even more.

Then fall on the high cost of maintenance. A simple cleaning can cost over 350 dollars in a authorized. An exchange of screen costs almost half the value of new equipment and so on. Many people end up selling notebooks with screens removed or problems catching a bargain price, when the problem is actually easy to solve.

In a sense, the hardware of a notebook is very similar to a desktop. The notebook uses the PCI Express bus (or AGP), uses memory DDR/DDR2/DDR3 and even has PCI slots (as the mini-PCI slot, normally used for the wireless card and PC card slot). The big difference is notebook in which almost everything is miniaturized, which leads to the use of components more compact and consume less energy.

Unlike desktops, LCD screens of notebook computers do not use the analog-digital converter. They are digital in nature, saving components and reduces consumption. The memory modules are also miniaturized. Previously, the memory modules for notebook were very expensive, with some manufacturers charging extortionate prices for upgrades, but now prices are much closer to the traditional modules.

On most notebooks, it is easy to replace the hard drive or installing another memory module. In some models, the magazine of the cooler is also very affordable, making it easy to clean (one classic problem of the notebook start to crash or shut down after a year of use, is almost always caused just by the accumulation of dirt).

I will take this final book to talk a little about keeping notebooks, covering disassembly, replacement parts, upgrades and troubleshooting different.
